Emo Bucket Layout’s are out

by flowmo at 3pm, June 8th, 2008 in Site News

It’s now possible to completly re-design your profile on emo bucket using premade layouts and CSS.

The CSS Control panel gives you full access to customizing the look and feel of your profile, and you can now add flash and other images to your profiles About Me section and your “Here For” section.

In the near future there will also be a layout generator in the control panel making it extremely simple to edit your profile..

There’s a lot of new features on the way people……. :-)

Three Great Bands Recording Now

by Xenomorph at 3pm, April 17th, 2008 in General, Music & Bands, Site News

After a year and a half hiatus, the popular punk band Alkaline Trio are in the recording studio making their new album Agony and Irony which is out on July 1st. The band said that that with this particular album they wanted to go ‘back to their roots’ with songs closer to their early work. Alkaline Trio also stated that the music will still be dark like 2005’s Crimson but in a different way. You can check out one of their new songs on their myspace Here

Alkaline Trio’s music was popularized by their fast tempos, additively catchy choruses, and dark themes. This included things like: Alcoholism, fire, and death. The band had been around since 1996 and if you haven’t checked them out I strongly suggest you do.

Another popular band recording are The All-American Rejects releasing their third album. They stated that they won’t try anything revolutionary and are just trying to ‘go with the flow’ with this album. AAR are trying for a more ‘real’ sound, and said they are going to make every song count. The album should be released sometime mid September if ‘all goes as planned.’

If you don’t know who the All-American Rejects are you should. The bands first album wasn’t a huge success but the song Swing Swing. The song garnered much popularity but many supposed the band was a one hit wonder. However with their second album came Dirty Little Secret. Move Along won two categories in the 2006 MTV music awards.

Finally the band Anberlin is also in the studio making an album. This will be a follow up to their 2007 Cities. Frontman Stephen Christan stated ‘Luckily, this album is gonna be the best work of our careers.’ A new contract with Universal will allow them to make the album exactly the way they want to. The album is currently unnamed but is set for August 1st.

Anberlin has released many singles including: A Day Late, Paperthin Hymn Godspeed, and The Unwinding Cable Car They’re a great band and I strongly recommend them.

Be sure to check in soon, I’ll be posting Alternative Magazines ‘100 Bands you need to know in ‘08′.

If you have any news for upcoming albums, new bands, or band break ups, PM me on the forums or send me a message on my myspace

New discussion forum

by flowmo at 1pm, March 11th, 2008 in Site News

We have added a new forum for Serious Discussions. A lot of members were upset that there was not a forum dedicated to discussing serious and controversial issues, so we have now made it possible for you to discuss things such as current events, politics, religion, and other topics not appropriate for the general forums or the dedicated emo forum.

Were still looking at more forums in the near future so feel free to post up other suggestions here or on the forum.

New layout - New Stuff

by flowmo at 6pm, March 4th, 2008 in Site News

The new layout has been launched on the bucket, but there have been some major delays of some of the new features. Were having a couple issues right now that require us to rewrite a majority of the back end code here, which is delaying the launch of things such as the profile layout editor.

One of the biggest problems we have had is that the bucket is growing so quickly, the code originally used is becoming outdated and the server/backend code just couldn’t handle the current increase in users. Were finishing up and everything seems to be running MUCH faster.

We also have an issue with certain pictures from a section of the gallery that are not displaying. Were working hard on fixing this and the occasional upload errors.

Were still here working hard, even though we might not be active in the community :-)

Valentines Day Contest and Instrumental Emo

by flowmo at 7pm, January 25th, 2008 in Music & Bands, Site News

It’s been a long time since there was an Emo Bucket contest, but we have 2 upcoming contests for you. The first contest is the 2008 Valentines Day Contest. You can win a $25 iTunes card and an Emo Anti-Valentines Day CD, or a $15 iTunes card.

All you need to do to enter is submit a poem, valentines day card, or any original way to tell someone that you lover them in an emo way :-)

Check out the 2008 Valentines Day Contest

The CD were giving away, the Emo Anti-Valentines Day CD, is from Vitamin Records and has fourteen string quartet tributes to some of the most popular mainstream emo bands including: Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, Panic! at the Disco, and Fall out Boy.

Or as they say:

Flowers die. Candy makes you fat. This year save some money by saying no the greeting card companies’ conspiracy. If you’re one of the millions of people who don’t have a date for the 14th, Vitamin Records has your back! This compilation features fourteen hardcore, string quartet tributes to some of emo’s most legendary artists. Love blows! This doesn’t!

If you like the acoustic versions of songs, you need to try listening to the instrumental versions. I’ve listened to a few songs by the String Quartet and their all pretty good and true to the original track. I honestly didn’t think this CD was going to be all that great when I first heard about it, but I have a copy I’ve been listening to all day. It’s really chill, and is starting to grow more on me :-O

Check out the cd on vitamin records site for a full list of songs.

New site coming soon

by flowmo at 6pm, January 15th, 2008 in Site News

Hey peoples,

A new bucket is being design and will be released soon, a long with a profile editor allowing you to totally customize your profile :-)

There’s going to be a lot of cool new features at the bucket in the coming months, so stay tuned.

That’s about all I can say right now, but just know that the emobucket is not going to be anywhere near the same. There will still be pictures, galleries, forums, and profiles, but almost everything is going to be changing.

What? No Updates?

by flowmo at 9pm, January 6th, 2008 in Site News

Sorry guys, a lot has been going on lately on the backend of the bucket, and not a whole lot on the front end. There are some small issues were working on fixing before we finish some of the front end stuff :-)

The profile editor and top friends are coming soon too, so don’t think I forgot about your profiles.

Originally, most of the text such as description of “What emo means” were sent in to me, but I really don’t like the definitions and such on the emo bucket as they are not true to emo. If anyone wants to send in “the perfect definition of emo”, send it on over to flowmo@emobucket.com

<3 more to come soon!

New profiles coming soon

by flowmo at 7pm, December 11th, 2007 in Site News

Emo Bucket profiles as of now look horrible and are rather useless with the exception of comments. We have decided to make profiles more useful and fun by rebuilding them from scratch.

Some of the things you can expect in the near future:

  • Profiles similar to most pre-existing social network sites
  • Profile editor allowing you to change the appearance of your profile. In addition to the profile editor, you will also be able to use custom CSS like you can with myspace.
  • New user control panel broken up into easier to use sections, and many many new features
  • About me sections and many other new areas of your profile.
  • Ability to set your profile as private, where only logged in users can view your profile. In the distant future, only your friends will be able to view your profile if you choose.

We want to address most of the things that people have suggested to us over the last couple of months, if you have any other suggestions, send me a message or email support@emobucket.com

What not to expect with the new profiles:

  • Search for users by age or location
  • Real names

These are the only feature our users have requested that we are not going to implement any time in the near or distant future. Due to the fact that most of our users are between the ages of 14-18, we don’t want to encourage the sharing of any personal information. We want to keep the emo bucket safe and legal, and the easiest way to avoid opening the bucket up to the wrong crowd is to keep the Bucket as anonymous as possible while still keeping it the biggest and best emo website ever.
